I seem to have become something of a "rules buff" recently, adding REBEL YELL to my collection. If you have not yet got hold of a set, I strongly recommend that you do so. They are not the best explained rules I have ever come across, but I've managed to come to grips with them after some considerable time and effort, and the reward for doing so is some pretty exciting and unpredictable gaming with a real feeling for the confusion and "fog of war". I have to admit to being sold on the concept - even if the presentation of the whole has its flaws. In particular I found early on as an umpire, that the UMPIRE'S SCREEN did not contain all the information I required to perform the role. For example, no turn sequence was included, and the umpire seemed constantly to have to refer back to the rule book for pieces of information on MORALE, DEPLOYMENT, ETC. I felt it necessary to create an extra page of tables for the umpire, and have found it of great help, speeding up play a considerable amount and reducing wear and tear on the rules book. I enclose a copy of the extra page for inclusion in The Zouave, should you feel it worthy of its hallowed pages. The tables are all of my own design and have been created from reading the prose in the rules book. For my part, I have photo-copied the umpire screen, players info cards and the extra page, and put them in thin plastic A4 sized wallets in a ring binder. This also contains the roster sheets for both sides and has proved a useful umpire's tool.
