As you can see, The Zouave has graduated to a more professional layout, courtesy of the computer technology now available in software and laser printers. It is hoped that this new style is pleasing to you and that it makes the magazine easier to read. We will probably try some different styles from time to time until our membership gets tired of me tinkering with all of these pages, type fonts, and other tricks of the trade. Let me know how you like what we have done with this issue. We are desperately short on articles and scenarios for future issues. Please submit material as soon as possible so that the magazine doesn't become a two-man show. Not only does this present a problem for the editors, but also it dilutes the quality of The Zouave, which is highly dependent on diverse points of view. Articles of all kinds are needed yesterday! Other than a need for material to publish, our Society is in tremendous shape. Membership is still growing, both in the U.S. and in other countries, and we are in the process of developing more material that may be of interest to ACW miniatures gamers. Shenandoah has sold far better than expected, and The Colors has already received enough pre-publication orders to merit printing. Please note announcement on page 4 of a printing delay for those rules. Further projects are planned for 1990, including supplements for Shenandoah (including new maps) that will cover campaigns in Tennessee, the Peninsula, and the Trans-Mississippi. The basic rules will remain unaltered, with the supplements simply allowing g fight different campaigns. Also, the editor will publish a 50:1 ratio rules set for large scale battles once Advance The Colors is out (one thing at a time please). Finally, at the end of 1990 or the beginning of ACW Society will be printing booklets covering the best scenarios to have appeared in the pages of The Zouave through the years and one on flag illustrations, both Union and Confederate. As you can see, lot of work to be done. With your continued support, wargamers who like the ACW period will never get bored! I thank all of you for another fun year!
