The Tennessee Brigade

Flags of Tennessee Units

By Rod Thayer

The Tennessee Brigade

14th Tennessee Volunteers

The flag of the 1st Tenn. (provisional army) was the same, except for the substitution of 1 Tenn. in the center. Both flags were captured during Pickett's charge at Gettysburg. Size: 43" x 47"

    COLORS

    Fields Red
    Cross: Blue with white trim
    Unit designation & stars: White
    Battle honors: Blue
    Border: White

7th Tennessee Volunteers

Union records claim that this flag was captured April 2, 1865 at Petersburg. Size: 81" x 53"

    COLORS

    Canton: Blue
    Bars: Alternating red, white, red
    Stars: White
Unit Designation: Bright white letters trimmed red

Tennessee Brigade Flag

I assume this was carried when the brigade was consolidated with others during the last months of the war. No size is given, but it appears a little bit smaller than the flag of the 14th Tennessee.

    COLORS

    Fields: Red
    Cross: Blue trimmed white
    Stars: White
Border: White on the staff side, orange on the other three
