Letters to the Editor

by Brian R. Scherzer

Dear Brian,

I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate you and the other regular contributors of THE ZOUAVE for producing a 1st rate magazine. I'm sure I'm speaking for other outlying members when I say we really appreciate the time and effort you are all putting in. Keep up the good work.

--Paul Crouch / Rotorua, New Zealand

Dear Sir,

I love THE ZOUAVE. It's the magazine I have always hoped for. Enclosed is a check for copies of Vol. I in its entirety. Keep up the great work.

--Craig Bianchi / Evanston, Illinois

Dear Editor,

Just a note to express my appreciation for the detailed study by Clay Cooper, "Regt. Strengths And Weapons At Antietam, Shiloh, And Gettysburg". I see that article as a MUST and hope that there will be additional studies on other battles in the future. Excellent work! That is just one of the many reasons I subscribe to THE ZOUAVE and you are to be highly complimented on devoting "space to numbers". Yes, I use a modified SNB3 (your house rules plus mine) and would appreciate some scenarios drawn up. Again, thanks.

--Hal Goff / St. Petersburg, Florida

(EDITOR'S NOTE): Unfortunately, this was the only letter received since my request in the last issue for members who use SNB3 to write in if they want scenarios done for that rules set. However, Rob Smith, co-author of SNB3 has sent in a couple of articles which appear in this issue. I have been remiss in not mentioning his name in the past.

Dear Brian,

There is really no information which I can obtain easily locally, and I get very frustrated when I have to bring everything to a halt due to a lack of good research facilities. We had a large wargames exhibition in Edinburgh recently, but it was a failure from my point of view. I could not get blank counters, JOHNNY REB scenarios, or reference sheets. Perhaps you would be kind enough to answer a couple of quick questions for me. What colour are Union guns and limbers? How would the 44th N.Y. Volunteer Infantry appear on the riband under the eagle on the regimental flag (a few examples would be priceless)?

--George Anderson

EDITOR'S NOTE: I put Mr. Anderson's full address so that our members can respond to his questions. Just as we depend on European gamers to write about the Ancients and Renaissance periods, they depend on us for info about the ACW! I can't answer all of the mail and need others to help. Please write!
