A newsletter was sent out in November- to current charter members which informed them of two contests being held by the ACW Society. The response to our call for members exceeded the copies of the newsletters available, so many charter members were unaware of what was going on. After a few complaints, I decided to use common sense and we are republishing info on both the "recruiting" and "articles contests. This includes expanding the time period allowed for same. The person who sponsors the most new members by May 1st will receive an authentic muster roll from 1664 of the Confederate 154th Senior Tennessee Regiment. To qualify, you must have your "recruits" merit ion your name as their-sponsor in order to receive credit. It is no longer necessary to send in applications. All that one must do is send in a Check along with a READABLE name and address. Our other contest is for the best article submitted by a member, other than the editors, which is used in the March or May issues of THE ZOUAVE. That person will receive a beautiful $500 Confederate Bond dated 1863, which is quite large and suitable for framing. These contests are only open to charter members (those joining prior to February 15, 1987) as a bonus for those who took a chance on us early in our formation.
