Battle of Ball's Bluff

How to Make Balsa Wood Transports

by Bill Miller

Use scissors to cut out the patterns provided and with a pencil trace out the boat on to the balsa wood. I made some sidings for mine and I have included a pattern to make them as well. You may want to use small strips of balsa wood of the same length for supports when attaching the sidings to the boat. Boat's size measures 1.75" x 4".

With your xacto knife carefully cut out the boat & sidings.

After you have done this, size them up and arrange them C to C, B to B and so on. Using the glue, apply it to the piece of wood that you wish to join. Glues vary in drying time, usually 10 minutes is a good length of time to allow for drying.

When the glue has dried you can now apply your paint or stain to the boat. Please allow enough time for the paint or stain to dry.
