Advance the Colors Modifications

Dear Dave,

Thanks for publishing my article on Advance the Colors rules modifications in the Winter, 1996 issue. As pointed out in the article in the latest issue of The Zouave, I think gamers who ignore 1:1 scale ACW gaming are missing out on a very enjoyable segment of our hobby.

There were a few errors in the article that I wanted to point out to readers of The Zouave:

Page 13: Orders

The sequence of company orders need not be given. Each company is limited to two company orders each turn (not impulse), but need not act on those orders in any specific sequence.

Double-quick order

Straggler checks must be made at the end of each impulse that a company moves at the double-quick.

Page 16: Disorder

The leader quality modifier should be 0 to -5, not 0 to 5.

Stragglers

The straggler check must be made at the end of each impulse, not turn.

Page 18: Morale Table

Unmodified percent chance for a crack unit to fail morale is 5%, not 15%.

Morale Failure Table

The second result (51-75) is considered a Retreat result.

Page 19: Fire Results Table

Artillery shot at 31"- 40" should be 62, not 3. Firing at extended line should be .75, not 75.

I should also note that all measurements for these modifications were assuming the players were using 15mm figures.
