The author, Dean West, explained that ALL of Vaughn's brigade is Tennessean, not Virginian. Also, all of those units listed above are dismounted. Although these men were a hodgepodge of Tennesseans, including released prisoners captured at Vicksburg, the unit fought as good if not better than the two brigades of Grumbles' West Virginians.
