Publication Hiatus for Shadis Magazine

In similar fashion to the television industry or the "off season" of professional sports, it was decided on Monday, October 19th, 1998, by the management of Alderac Entertainment Group that Shadis: The Independent Games Magazine, three time Origins Award recipient, will take a three month hiatus, ceasing publication for the first quarter of 1999 (Jan-Mar). Just like in it's twenty second issue, Shadis Magazine will once again undergo reconstruction, and use the three month hiatus to re-evaluate its format, redefine its focus, and re-emerge a stronger voice for independent game publications. This new and improved Shadis Magazine will resume bimonthly publication beginning with issue #55 in the spring of 1999. As always, it remains the determination of all Shadis Magazine staff members that Shadis will never become a "house organ" for Alderac Entertainment Group products.

Which leads to the following.... Announcing the publication of Ronin Magazine. Great measures have been taken by the staff of Alderac Entertainment Group to maintain Shadis Magazine as an independent voice for the game industry, while at the same time publishing it's own gaming products, much to the detriment of exposure for its own product lines. Therefore AEG and its partners Pinnacle Entertainment Group are proud to announce the publication of Ronin Magazine. The focus of Ronin Magazine will be the feature and promotion of products by both AEG and PEG. This bimonthly publication (to be released on an alternating schedule with Shadis Magazine) will begin with the release of its first issue in the spring of 1999.
