BATTLEFLEET - Vol.9, No-5. This magazine of the Naval Wargames Society (who have a number of board-game -available to members on a monthly loan basis) includes articles on such Naval matters as De Ruyter in the 17th Century; Ironclads of the Imperial Russian Navy; plus reviews, details of wargames, etc.

NEWS FROM BREE. Although I can hardly understand any of this, I find a strange fascination about its well printed and originally illustrated pages and I imagine that if your interests lean towards Science Fiction or Fantasy then you will find it hard to wait for each issue as it comes out. Seemingly it discusses board and miniature wargames in the Fantasy and Science Fiction field, suggests new types of beings, creatures, etc., and even some rather cryptic rules for the brilliantly staged contest in that amazing film "ROLLERBALL" - I must admit that I had given some thought to wargaming this! Don't be put off by my ignorance - write to Hartley Patterson, Finches, 7 Cambridge Road, Beaconsfield, Bucks HP9 1HW.

MILITARY MODELLING - September 1976. Beautifully illustrated as always including some fine stimulating photographs World War II models and dioramas. Articles on A Glossary of Ancients; Uniform information; Uniforms, Weapons and Equipment of the Crimea; a Bedford Gun Portee; a 15th Century, Knight; plus the usual reviews of kits, figures, books, etc., etc.

NORSEMAN - Magazine of the Northern Association of Wargamers. Both the July and August issues include numerous articles on military historical (although not necessarily wargaming) matters plus an interesting battle report of a wargame from the British American War of 1812; a rebuttal from Phil Barker of recent Norseman's criticisms of their 5th Edition Ancient Rules plus news and feature of interest to Members of this Association - to whom this magazine must be a blessing.

SIGNAL No.104. John Mansfield has lost his grip on the Canadian Army and has been posted out of Europe back to Canada so that anything pertaining to this magazine should be sent to 410-240 Brittany Drive, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada KIA OR7 (at least that is what it looks like in my badly printed copy). The subscription is now 5 copies for a dollar or IS for three dollars. As usual Jack reviews all the usual latest Conventions, boardgames and some magazines - a useful publication if you are interested in boardgames because it really keeps you up-to-date with all that is coming out.

SOLDIERS OF THE QUEEN - August 1976. This fine magazine of the Victorian Military Society includes excellent authoritive articles on Colonial and Victorian wargames figures; Wargame Simulations and the Victorian Period; Board Wargames of the Victorian era; illustrated article on Fort Rowner at Gosport in Hampshire; figure reviews; biographical details of Field-Marshal Sir Evelyn Wood; a plate of the Egyptian Army 1896-98 with colour details; Royal Naval Landing Parties and details of a Boer attack on a railroad in July 1900.

THE NAPOLEONIC ASSOCIATION Involved both in wargaming and the real-life re-enactment of Napoleonic warfare, this lively group put out a magazine and a series of handbooks. Their JOURNAL for July 1976 contains features and articles "The Uniform of Murat"; the Russian Army 1807-13; Report on re-enactment of Battle of Quebec; the British Military Dance (humourous?) a wargame report and details of Rousselot plates.
