Almost any figure can be used - I used the standing figure with rifle butt on ground.

Trim helmet brim from back and sides but leave front, this can act as a peak. Trim coat skirts where folded back - Austrians folded theirs under. Made a medium sized shako from plasticene covered in clear nail varnish. Add an oak-leaf to kepi, made from paper.

Officers -- Build kepi up on French style kepi of officers also add oak-leaf sprig, sash from plasticene scoured with pin to represent creases and folds also sword scabbard from pin.
