Make Your Own Army Conversion:

Napoleonic Artillery Crews

by Mike Lockyer

Source of Figures

Russian: W.W.I German. 3 Stretcher bearers: 1 Officer with field glasses: 1 with rifle at post.

Officers First

Smooth away coat details, remove coat skirts, left arm is cut away and glasses removed.

A telescope is made from a pin, and stuck into right hand and eye (ouch). A new left arm out- stretched is added (mine came from prone figure) this is stuck with Evo-stick and then welded with hot knife. Kiver (shako) is made from plasticene also a sash the latter is scored with a pin to represent folds. The plasticene is covered with clear nail varnish. Sabre added made from pin. Coat tails and sabre slings from paper.

3 Stretcher Bearers

Have their coat details and front skirts smoothed and removed, boot tops smoothed into trousers.

Their arms are removed (I'm really bloodthirsty) and new ones added by same means as officers. My sources were prone figures and figures with bangalore torpedo the latter is used as a kiver from plasticene, sabre from pin, cartouche box from thin card. Ram, trail spike from wire.

Figure: Rifle at Port

Remove coat details and front coat skirts also pack. Smooth boots into trousers (again an amputation). Remove left arm and rifle and replace with another. Source - prone figure. (I've got lots of armless ones, some have no heads either).

Make kiver from plasticene, sabre and cartauche box as before. Bucket added from Wagon Train kit. Handle from fuse wire.
