1998

I received my copy of Wargame Design today and was glad to see that you are reviving OSG. I was intrigued by the brief mention of Napoleonic Tours. Are you offering tours again? If so, when and where? I would be very interested in traveling with you again if you are planning another campaign. I am definitely interested in the trip so let me know if plans firm up. THE TOUR IS ON!

Join us on a tour to the battlefields of the glorious campaign of 1807. On our route we will meet local historians who know the ground and can point out relics of the campaign. We will follow in the footsteps of the armies, through towns filled with reminders of a bygone age, using games to help visualise the unfolding of events. We will travel at a comfortable pace, taking time to explore along the way. The true grognard will not want to miss the 1998 Napoleonic Tour!

In Poland the Russian Army found a training ground and dress-rehearsal for the titanic Campaign in Russia five years later. The French experienced their first disaster, at Eylau, and despite the brilliant Peace of Tilsit, concluded on the raft in the Niemen, Napoleon's star began it's rapid descent in Poland.

TOUR PACKAGE INCLUDES:

  • Air travel to and from Warsaw.
  • Hotel accommodations for nine nights (double occupancy). Single room is available at extra charge. All inns on our route maintain a high standard; some are historic.
  • Ground transportation following the historic routes of march.
  • Viewing of the battlefields. On each battlefield we will walk the important ground and give a narration while following in the footsteps of the main attacks.
  • Evening gaming and seminars. Tips, Museum entrance fees, side trips and entertainment are not included in the fee.
  • A copy of the exhaustive study of the campaign, The Habit of Victory, by Kevin Zucker (bound galleys).

Next August, take a journey back in time to the battlefields of the 1807 Campaign with Kevin Zucker and other Napoleonic aficionados. The campaign of 1807, waged against Prussia and Russia, marks the mid-point of Napoleonic rule. At the conclusion of the campaign, Napoleon's grasp on continental Europe was unchallenged.
