Consensus of OpinionComments on the first issue of Wargame Desin included "thoroughly disgusting." Keep those cards and letters coming. John Perras would purchase a War in Europe 1796-1815 "at any price." Many people have written or phoned into offer their services as "blind testers." We are keeping a file, but so far have been unahle to get anything organized. Brent will be starting a Staff newsletter to service those who wish to help out. Another concern of many is the question of mounted maps. When we are printing 50,000 units per title instead 2,000 we will be able to afford this step. At current levels mounted maps would double a game's cover price. On Wargame Design Nr. 1I read the first issue of Wargame Design with great interest. As a wargamer of some years now, I find your sophisticated approach refreshing as opposed to the "find the mean and sit"attitude of SPI and AH. Your only competition will be GDW. The article by Isby and Zucker is the kind needed for the wargamer cum historian and shed some light on what simulations can be; my only criticisms are that Zucker tends to he obscure because of a lack of continuity and that Ishy was a bit too abrupt. The other articles were self-serving. At this point your magazine appears to be one part The General and one part philosophical treatise. I would encourage you to emphasize the latter aspect which no other 'zine can do at present. It seems that your games are aimed at the cerebral types; why not your articles?
