Immediately after the attacks HMGS Great Lakes held their Flagship Convention. (Their Chapter would have suffered significantly otherwise.) "Advance the Colors" [appropriately named] turned out to be VERY NEEDED especially for those HMGS members who'd have otherwise remained in shock. Mike Demana (the GL-Newsletter editor and Airline employee found it hard to go himself) He explained his feelings about it very eloquently when he wrote this in the HMGS-GL Newsletter: "Spending time visiting with friends I see only at Cons, the camaraderie, admiring the beauty of painted troops and terrain, proved to be a joyful experience. After a week of watching tragedy, feeling cold and empty inside, ATC 2001 was the healing balm my soul needed." Amen Mike! Mike also said that Gamers tended to be a patriotic lot, and I will emphatically second that!
