Spring Maneuvers was once again held at the Fort Leavenworth Hunt Lodge on Friday and Saturday February 21-22. Vendors present were Laden Swallow, Hardtack Hobbies, Hatsoff, Buffalo Books, Titan MMP, Harold’s Old Games and Anastasia Books. Mag Web provided both rulers and 4 of their excellent CDs as door Prizes. Thank you to all Vendors and sponsors. The attendance was very good at 75 registered players. As usual Friday Afternoon started out slow but by evening the hall was quite crowded. Games on Friday included an SAS game using homegrown rules in N-Gauge. In the evening the Napoleonic battle of Eylau by Ed Murphy in 15mm, a pre-dreadnought naval Battle by Mike Machell and a 6mm British Colonial game by John Davis. Again the games were well received. Throughout the convention Titan MMP, Darrin Loomis, kept an excellent American Civil War Ironclad game going using a new line of outstanding 1/1200 ship models he is carrying. George Knapp ran both his new improved battle of the Bulge Game and The Horse Soldiers-Greirsons Raid. Both games were always well attended and a great time was had by all. Saturday continued with th Mexican American war battle of Monterey run by Eric Matthews, an excellent 25MM French and Indian War game by Mike Machell, a 6mm medieval game run by John Davis, a N-guage armor game in Normandy run by Scott Hughes and an excellent gunfighter game run by Mike Machell. There were also many pick up games too numerous to mention but the hall activity was quite lively. A DBA tourney hosted by Chris Southard left a few unoccupied spots but generated a lot of interest and should be even more popular next time. Patrick Allie was the winner of the DBA tourney with his Viking Army. Mike Machell was the winner of best of Show with his 25mm French and Indian War Skirmish game. Due to overwhelming response a summer convention “Summer Camp” will be held in the same venue July 25-26 2003. Thanks to all who made it possible over $700.00 was raised for the Frontier Army Living History Association and the Frontier Army Museum.
