The follwing is from the National HMGS Web Page it is FYI.......Dave Updates on the Status of National 1999 (please direct comments or questions to the National Coordinator at hmgs1@earthlink.net ) As of 1 February 1999: Regarding an HMGS East requested poll to (in general terms) dissolve the present National HMGS organization and reform as a less formal confederation or coordinating body: YES - HMGS East, HMGS Pacific Southwest, HMGS Great Lakes, HMGS Gulf South, HMGS Tornado Alley, HMGS Heart of America, HMGS West and HMGS South. NO - HMGS MidSouth and HMGS Midwest. In general, the majority of Chapters favor either a partial or full refund of the National Treasury to the Chapters that contributed the money. As of 15 January 1999: Matt Davidson of HMGS Great Lakes has replaced Ferkin Doyle as National Chairman. He has promulgated correspondance to poll the Chapters on the future status of the National Board per HMGS East's request. Now awaiting responses from all Chapters. As of 8 December 1998: The scheduled National Board meeting which was to occur on 19 Sep 98 at HMGS Great Lakes Advance the Colors, Dayton, OH, was less successful than hoped. This was because of the inability of the Board to constitute a quorum, in part due to HMGS Heart of America (HOA) member and former National Treasurer Rick Nance attending the meeting and contesting the seating of the appointed HOA National Rep, Mr Darryl Smith of HMGS Great Lakes. Because of certain legal documentation that Nance presented, documentation that seemed to validate his status as the official HOA representative, the Board could not determine who to seat. Thus, a quorum was not available, no meeting officially took place and no minutes were kept. At the same meeting, however, Mr Nance was presented with an official memorandum infoming him of Maj Bill Harting's election as the new National Treasurer and requesting he turn over all funds and records to same. Mr Nance declined to do so at that time, citing concerns over Missouri law, given that Haring is not a Missouri resident and HMGS National is incorporated in that State. However, as of 25 Sep 98, HMGS East brokered an accomodation with Mr Nance that allowed him to turn over all National funds ($ 10 K) to Mr Scott Holder, HMGS East Treasurer and a Missouri resident, the state where HMGS National is incorporated. Mr Holder also had the HMGS National Articles of Incorporation revised to show himself (a resident of Missouri, required by that state) and the current national Chairman Ferkin Doyle to poll the Chapters on detemembers of the National Board as the only legal officers and members of that organization. With the completion of those two initiatives, Mr Nance has removed himself from any connection with the National Board of HMGS in order to pursue other interests. Mr Nance was very coorperative throughout the entire process. Now HMGS East has now formally asked HMGS Narmining the future of the National Board. East has indicated its willingness to coorperate in forming a new National organization, but has also indicated that regardless of the outcome of the poll, it will not support, monitarily or otherwise, the current National structure. Concerning the National funds now held by East, once some decision on National's future is determined, these dollars (approximately $ 10 K) will either be turned over to the new National Treasurer who will disburse them for the purposes for which they were intended, returned to the Chapters which contributed them or perhaps a combination of both alternatives. East's status in this regard is that of Caretaker only. To Whom It May Concern HMGS East, acting in what it considers the best interests of the Society and all its Chapters, has which allows for the orderly transition from one National Board administration to another, and the transfer of that major portion of National Board funds ($ 9809.45) held by the previous Treasurer as well. The Corporate Registration for the HMGS National Board has been revised with the State of Missouri effective 29 Sep 98, to reflect the current Officers and Chapter Representatives of the National Board. The document also includes Mr Scott Holder, Treasurer of HMGS East, replacing Rick Nance, former National Treasurer, as the necessary Missouri resident as required by that State's laws. Mr Nance has elected to leave the National organization to pursue other interests. Further, those National funds previously held by Mr Nance have been transferred to Mr Holder where they are being kept in escrow by HMGS East until final disposition can be determined by the National Board. Mr Nance's cooperation during this process is both acknowledged and appreciated. East intends to coordinate with all the other Chapters to discuss the future of the HMGS National Board, determining whether it should continue in its present form, in some modified form or be disbanded as some have suggested. When that decision has been reached, it is anticipated that the funds belonging to National will either be turned over to the new National Treasurer who will disburse them for the purposes for which they were intended, returned to the Chapters which contributed them or perhaps a combination of both alternatives. Request any further discussion of this announcement be kept off this Newsgroup, but rather be initiated directly through me, the National Coordinator. Thanks in advance for your cooperation, Warmest regards,
