Gomorra's Most Wanted

Gen Con '99 Tournament Report

by Ben Handy

Big Ben Handy, Andrew Davidson, and Edward Bolme

Howdy, pardners! It's me, Big Ben Handy, the Bullet-riddled corpse, and I been asked to scrawl a few words about the big showdown in this here town of ours. You mighta heard about it. Bunch of dudes got together to try and figger out who could grab the title of Most Wanted. Can't zactly undertand why someone would want to be called somethin like that, but I guess that's why they ask me to keep time at these shootouts insteada doin some shootin myself.

I'll let you know in advance: this is all comin straight from my recollection, on accounta some varmit done made off with the notes I'da been usin to make this more accurit. So I'm apologizin now for any dudes or outfits I cause offense to by not gettin my informashun rite.

Things started purty early by my standards (course I never been one to rise with the chickens), and I noticed there were an awful lot o dudes slingin for the jacks. I figgered them fancy pearl-handled sixes Jackson always carries had somethin to do with it, but I wasn't about to ask around to be sure. All the outfits showed up to grab the title, mostly Jackson's gang, with a lotta Sweetrock folks too. All the other gangs were about equal, except for the Rangers who only sent a handful o people. Seein as how I was supposed to decide how long and how often these dudes were supposed to mix it up, I let em go at it seven times for 50 minutes each time.

One thing I thought interestin, in some places like that Rokugon or Dominia they give some kinda warnin about when the fights almost over. I wasn't about to do that here, on accounta some varmits been usin that informashun to slow things up near the end so they can win the shootout, insteada endin up in Boot Hill like they oughta. I just scream out that the fights over when the time comes, and if you weren't ready, then you shoulda been.

After about seven hours, I picked the eight best hombres (or hombrettes for those who feel this kinda distincshun importnt) and let em shoot it out to the death. No time limit, go until ya take control and put the other fella in the ground. The eight I picked: Andrew "the Wanderer" Davidson (guess he's some relation to Mary) playin Sweetrock, "Killer" Kerry Breitenstein (the champion fr( last year, with much appologies ifn I spelled yer name wrong) also part o the Sweetrock corporation, Kirby Vai Vliet gunnin as a Sioux, Frank Bustamante (why can't I ple with a last name like Smith ever get into these things?) slingin for the Agency, John Castillo (who also favored the Sweetrock style of livin), Michael Nickoloff (another hired gun for Sweetrock), the Reverend Norm Fraley who fought the good fight for Elijah's Flock, and Mark Greenholdt fightin his way along for the Whatele family.

In the end it was Andrew Davidson gunnin against Frank Bustamante. A lot of us had high hopes that Frai Bustamante would end Sweetrock's winnin streak at thi here showdowns, but it weren't meant to be. "The Wanderer" won in a coupla rounds, earnin for hisself tt. dubious distinctshun o bein the Most Wanted.
