Campaign & 'Rapid Fire' Rule clarifications The artillery award (16-25) may be exchanged for a heavy flak company if you are German allowing you use 1 All 20mm "clip fed" (and 37mm bofors) are auto cannon from now on (I'm counting German 20mm as auto canon so please lets not start the debate again) Autocannon on vehicles suffer ammo restrictions just like anybody else No you don't get a coaxial mg unless the tank carried it, yes its tough for the poles and there tankettes Off board Artillery When using the off-board artillery award (16-25) players may choose to use any one of the following 1) As a pre-attack bombardment - from say game turn 1 - starts on an enemy position or terrain feature that is going to be attacked & then allow it to creep forward 4" (i.e. a square) a turn until it has plastered the full depth of the map. Obviously no observer roll is need nor can it be called off 2) Or it is allowed to pound a selected map position for a certain number of rounds from a game turn nominated by the player - use the aircraft rules to sort out when it starts (so could be move 1 or 5-6) & throw 1D6 to say how long it will last. A tile is chosen by the player then a d4 thrown to see in which quarter the template is placed. This is done each turn to give a mapped fire effect of plastering a map grid reference. Again no observer need and no call off. 3) Finally as per the Rapid Fire rules with the FOO being as useless as normal.....with the exception that Russian FOO's must be sighted with a clear line of sight to the rear middle of the table (and their battery) as intervening hills, woods etc would block line of site. Further Clarifications 1. Armies must comply with the 300 or 500 point maximums, there is to be no leeway 2. The percentage allocations within the force restrictions for each nationality also represent maximums. 3. Polish now have a playing umpire and therefore awards will count for them if they get victories Back to Those Damn Dice Vol. One No. 5-6 Table of Contents Back to Those Damn Dice List of Issues Back to MagWeb Master Magazine List © Copyright 2003 by Rolfe Hedges This article appears in MagWeb.com (Magazine Web) on the Internet World Wide Web.
