Purchases, Campaigns,
and Considerations

By Rolf Hedges

As you all know we have 3 new club members, and we are now well into the Axis and Allies campaign. For those who haven't heard, the significant events so far are

    1) France has fallen -- in September 1939 -- however most of the French fleet survived.

    2) Italy succesfully invaded and conquered Nigeria ( YES NIGERIA ), but the Italian invasion of Egypt was thrown back, giving the Italian player a very bloody nose. All this in March 1940. This was soon followed by the 'Battle of the Baltic', the German invasion of Poland in September 1940 , the British attack on the Italian navy in the Mediterranean, and the Japanese invasion of China.

Future Projects

We have all been toying with future projects, those of note are the ' HOTT ' Lord of the Rings campaign -- hopefully to be written up here first. And the Blackhawk Down wargame in 20mm, using Liberation figures and models.

( www.webspawner.com/users/libmins ) Both projects sparked by the recent film releases ( now soon to be released on DVD and Video - 'BH Down' is set to come out 27th July.

Club Purchases

We have invested in some TSS desert 2 foot square boards, along with some hills. This will now allow us to wargame our WW2 desert battles in the club house, it will also allow the ancient players to wargame North African and Middle East battles. Of course it'll be very useful for the Warhammer ancient battles crowd to use the new 20mm plastic armies they have purchased.

Projects that seem to have hit a wall are - the Street Violence campaign using Foundry's 28mm figures based on gang war and control of the London Underground, the Gladiator RPG game and campaign - remember where we each had a Gladiator school and we would see who earnt the most amount of money from the most victories etc.
