Letter from Michael Percy of SHQ Miniatures
This is included, for those club members who may wish to complete their SHQ units asap. SHQ Statement 7th July 2001 Any business is for sale to the right price, it would be foolish to say otherwise and SHQ has always been in this category. Up till now prospective purchasers have approached us with a view to making an offer, none so far have proved serious about closing a deal. However we are shortly to commence pro-actively seeking a buyer. To aid this process we will be producing a package with Frequently Asked Question and the previous three years accounts (y/e Dec 200 will be completed August) along with the year to June 2001. Offers will be sought in the region of £ 85k and to avoid more time-wasters we will be seeking covering letters from enquirers from their Solicitors and/or Accountants showing that they have access to such funds. We are not intending to restrict the sale to the UK and will invite offers from overseas(or through tunnels!). So why sell? Well John, who has always been willing to give his time freely, now has fresh family commitments, which from September will restrict the amount of time he has available. I have several independent projects that I wish to pursue and although able to take on the administrative work feel that in order to take both SHQ and myself forward my time is best spent on the design bench. It must be stressed that both John and I are now and intend to remain the very best of friends. This decision, not lightly reached is one jointly made, which we have agreed is best for ourselves and the long-term future of SHQ. We have kept our workshop staff and contract designers fully informed of our intention. As an aside the workshop staff, contract designers and myself will be available to undertake work for the new owner, should they wish. What of the immediate future? SHQ has an extensive list of both new figure/vehicle releases and we are accelerating our rolling program to improve existing figure ranges. As has already been announced there will be a price increase of 10% (approximately) from 1st September and a further review in early spring 2002. We hope that this will answer most questions for now. Advertisements will be placed in the Wargames press to giving further information on a regular basis.
