Karl Romund

Continuing his series on troops of the French and Indian (or 7 Years) War, Herr Romund has produced a fine group depicting a French infantry camp which including soldiers loafing, on guard duty, washing, drinking, chatting with a vivandiere, vivandiere horse and wagon, tents, campfire, and other ingredients which, due to the similarities of 18th century uniforms, may be adapted for dioramas of several ware and times. Romund's 30mm flats are of good quality and very low price.

3M Company

This firm has erupted with a series of board games to be played with supplied miniatures, including "Feudal, "Breakthrough" and presumably more not yet noticed by your editor. The style is similar to Tod Haskell's short Napoleonics game, and should appeal to the player weary of 8 hour games. The 3M Games have appeared in various large department stores.

Airfix Products Ltd.

Airfix is always up to something. Since coming out with the M-3 (Lee/Grant) medium tank of Desert War fame, they have popped up with:

    A complete WWII Pontoon bridge
A series, including what appears to be a 7.7 medium gun and tractor, of 1/32 (54mm) scale military vehicles. (I remain skeptical of this firm's efforts to revive 54mm wargames, but the models will undoubtedly favorably received by the chaps who collect large tank models.)

substantial rumor of French Napoleonic artillery in 1/72 = (23mm) scale

And, of course, such 1/72nd aircraft an the Percivel Procktar, Bristol Bulldog and Hal23 (a bi-plane dive bomber which originally equipped two squadron of Schlaatfleiger through the 1940 campaign.)

Erickson Miniatures Royalist Col. Aran Bakshian Jr., editor of the N.C.M.C. Vedette and silent partner in the infamous Armchair General Association, has been telling me for some time that Bolger Erickson is in business for himself again with the lively 30mm figures best known to Anglo-Saxon wargamers as S.A.R. figures. The prominence of these figures in indicated by the fact, that when they ceased to appear pioneer wargamer Jack Scruby turned in desperation to designing his own figures. Unfortunately, Aram, one of my bachelor partners to whom I have been unsuccessful in shifting the workload during my recent crisis, has failed to supply me with details.

M.W. Bolling 1701 X Berlin Erich Weinert Strasse 86

Fanciers of 1870 period 30mm flats of which there has perhaps never been any acute shortage, due to the enthusiasm of German manufacturers for the period, may find this editors series of French artillery loading aiming, and firing, complete with teams, cannon, and limbers, of interest. Unfortunately I have no information on cataloque prices for this firm.

Miniature Figurines Limited 3 Northam Road, Southampton 2NZ England

This firm, which has the unfortunate drawback of delivering miniatures far more readily than cataloques, Has recently expanded its range to include highland grenadiers advancing, French grenadiers advancing, Prussian grenadiers advancing, Austrian grenadiers advancing, and Hungarian grenadiers same for the 7 Years War, American and French advancing for the American Revolution, two new Russians for the Napoleonic era, and Saxons, French Guard Grenadier Chasseurs a Pied, Zouave, and Sailor advancing for the Franco-Prussian War. Perhaps most drastic is their new policy of issuing troopers with saddelry for all periods, and light and heavy cavalry horses separate. According to the manufacturer, the theory is to enable collectors to use the same nag for all periods from 1600 (or perhaps earlier) with different riders. We dare you to try to get a complete cataloque out of these chaps. In several months, now coming to more than a year as advertisers for that firm, we have been absolutely unable to do so.

Aloys Ochel 23, Kiel Feldstrasse 24b, West Germany

This prominent editor of 30mm flats continues to increase his selection, coming out with, among other items, the following rather unusual figures: Swedish light dragoons 1807 HW165a officer HW167a trooper, and Swedish dragoons HW165b Officer HW168a Standard, HW168b trompet, and HW167b trooper. The light dragoonsare marching, the dragoons "in reserve."
