Austrian Army at Dresden

Recently, Ray visited with Pat and Dave, and sent the following information regarding the character of the Austrian Army at Dresden. Ray also has a fine column in Strategy and Tactics.

1: There were 2 Light Divisions as:
1st Light Division: Lichtenstein

4: There were two other Reserve Divisions, each with 2 brigades of 3 or 4 battalions of Grenadiers and and 6 pound battery per brigade.

The cavalry corps had 3 Cavalry divisions, each of 2 brigades: the first of Cuirassiers (4 sqds, average strength 600); and the second of 1 Cuirassier and 3 Dragoon Regiments (same as the 1st). The third had 1 brigade of Chevaulegers and 1 of Hussars each of 6 sqd, average Strength 700.

The 2nd Light Division had 3 Grenz battalions in 1 brigade: 1 infantry regiment of 3 battalions, and 2 regiments of Hussars of 6 squadrons each in the other brigade.

Napoleonic Austrian Troops under the skilled direction of veteran wargamer and chronicler Ted Haskell. The scene occurs during the "Battle of Fortress Brittania," one of the famous mass battles of the midwestern groups.
