This is not really an editorial--it is a sales pitch. We want all of you around for Volume II. Unfortunately, due to the evils of the day, it has become necessary for us to recognize one of our nation's most vital institutions-inflation! This does not mean that we are in favor of it. We are simply unable to ignore it. In fact, we are taking steps to avoid it. This year a subscription will cost $3.50 ... it will also include 8 issues. Moreover, if you act now, i.e., before Volume II No. I goes to press, we will drop it down to $3.25 and, if you like, throw in a copy of "The Wargame" a modified and somewhat more comprehensible form of the old "Le Kriegspiel" so clumsily translated by your editor some years back. So you wind up with nine for the price of eight, or something like that. "The Wargame", thereafter, goes for $1.50. For those of you who caught up napping and paid for a full year in advance, you've got us cold--but, if you apply for "Le Kriegspiel Modifie" alias "The Wargame" during the time limit mentioned above, the price will be $1.00. Otherwise sit back and enjoy Volume II--partly at our expense. A word of warning however. We will book no Volume III orders at this time--who knows what a dollar may be worth in printing services in the perilous future. In the meanwhile, some back issues of Volume I No. 3, No. 4,, and No. 5 are available at .50 but we cannot provide complete subscriptions for Volume I. Precise contents for Volume II are unknown to us at this time-there will be more on ancients, more on Middle & Late 19th Century, more on WW II, some A.C.W. (War Between the States,), naval matters for both the latter periods, more on Napoleonics, some 1680 material, probably a smattering of WW I, and beyond that we are open to suggestions-and articles. We also hope to make good on our fortifications omissions. Hope to hear from you soon.
