Terry Griner I have just received issue No. 3 of the Armchair General and enjoyed it very much. However, I did notice a minor misstatement in the editorial. When listing possible sources of rules for wargames, you mentioned the name of Bob Collman of Seattle. This particular set of rules was written and published by the Western Washington Wargamers, of which Bob is a member. We do indeed have a very complete set of Napoleonic Wargame Rules with appendices that show how to use the rules for A.C.W. and Napoleon's Egypt campaign. However, anyone wishing to purchase a set should do so by writing to me at the below address (above here). I am secretary of the Western Washington and am the one who has the stock of rule books and mailing supplies. Also Bob Collman has recently moved and can no longer be contacted at the address listed. The rule book sells for $1.50 and is well worth the price for anyone looking for ideas to incorporate into their own rules. Ed. Readers will note the above correction. Terry's reference to incorporation of ideas into one's own rules is well put. Wargame rules, alas, never stand still for any length of time. Richard Cooper I've been a collector for several years. When I heard about the Armchair General I rushed right away for a sample copy. When it came in promptly I knew I had to subscribe. Now, I can't find a partner. I have my brother, who is a boardgame fanatic. In addition I'm trying to get the Armchair General on the counters of my local hobby store. P.S. I've been designing a boardgame for Trafalgar. Ed. Well done Richard, let us know about your boardgame, and good luck in your efforts to plant TAG. Robert E. Johnson I have been intending to write you for some time, but was hoping to clear something first; but after perusing the third issue and have seen Ray Evans beat me to the punch, I felt I just had to brutalize these keys and the English language in an effort to communicate with you. Like Ray, I simply cannot extoll your paises ... sufficiently! WAIT!!-who the hell am I? I belong to AHIKS and am in Ray's region; I am the editor of the AHIKS newsletter-Kommandeur-and run the Ahiks Diplomacy game (postal) in the Diplodeur. Ray speaks highly of you in the regional newsletter and I wrote an approving short review of the AG in the K. (which copy I will send to you when it comes out in a week or two. I just got on the table top myself two months ago and began first in collecting suitable armies for the North African campaigns, so you can well imagine my delight in the early appearance of the articles by Mr. Geisz. His marvelous Orders of Battle appeal to the factual history portion of my heart (if I may be so romantic). Not only because I have been unable to uncover any Table toppers in Bergen County (HHB is two hours away and NYC is a pain), but because the period seems so very special because of the men and conditions involved-probably it is due to the NAF being the closest thing to modern cavalry, which is always romantic, I was wondering about the possiblity of organizing a society devoted to this period. (You were wondering what I was getting at, huh?) So of a rather general thing not necessarily devoted to actual meeting each other, but in exchange of information, rules, fields of battle and just who is interested in the whole smear; perhaps under the aegis of the AG even? Another thing that I was intending to bring up was an exchange of Advertisements. AHIKS is 100 members and many are or will probably get interested in Table topping and of course you are not devoted to TT to seclusion and we are not rich enough to pay for the advertising nor do we really need it-but, what do you think? Anyway don't sweat what other zines tell you. Everyone knows that wargaming zines do not make anyone rich, they do however make a goodly number of people happy and what more can you ask than to do something you enjoy, make people happy and still be able to afford it. For happiness' sake, don't get fainthearted. I am never patient until I get the next issue and then the 'TO BE CONTINUED's put me on tenter hooks again. You are doing great-keep it up! The market is here and it will grow. Well so many nice words from me are very rare (ask my wife) and have me worn out-must recuperate so I can plan a way to convince my wife that the price of Denzil Skinners early WWII tanks are worth the price. Ed. I'd like to have sample copies of those newsletters for review- might serve by way of free advertising. Naturally any kind words that sell TAG subscriptions will be most welcome. As for organizing a society for Afrika Korps wargames, we have enough trouble getting out a magazine, but will co-operate in any such effort you may wish to make. Are you quite sure we won't make a fortune on this thing? Ah well, I suppose that's the way of things.
