ANTHONY H. CORDESMAN is Adjunct Professor of National Security Studies at Georgetown University. He is actively involved in legislation to control the proliferation of biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons and the proliferation of long-range missiles. He has written and lectured extensively on the Middle East and the Gulf, the U.S. and Soviet military balance, and the lessons of war. He is the author of nine books including The Iran-Iraq War: 1984- 1987, The Gulf and the West, and the Lessons of Modern War.
