Tanker’s Challenge

Battleground WWII Battle Report

By Matt Fritz

It was a wild, no holds barred battle for armored supremacy as everyone vied to be the top tanker ace. This close run contest wasn’t decided until the last turn. In the end the German team won with a score of 14 kills and 827 points. The allies (Russian and US) registered 13 kills and 790 points. There were many tense encounters thanks to the random entrance rule. Often a tanker found himself surrounded and receiving fire from three or four directions.

The greatest reversal of fortune was suffered by Bill Brandley who started one turn in a King Tiger and started the next turn in an armored car. The overall winner was Jim Woods with 6 kill and 278 points. The top German tanker was Charlie with 4 kills for 258 points, narrowly beating out Bill Harkins.
