By Matt Fritz
At the June game day Eric Schlenger organized a WWII naval battle. The combatants were 10 Japanese destroyers against 3 US light cruisers and 4 US destroyers. The rules were Seekreig. Matt Fritz and John Burke played the Japanese and Charlie Burke and Ceasar Bennett commanded the US fleet. The Japanese decided to send 4 destroyers on a flanking maneuver in an attempt to box in the Americans and gain a local firepower advantage. This plan failed miserably. The US cruisers used their fire power to devastating effect. One Japanese destroyer sank after taking one hit thanks to the critical hits table. Their force battered, the Japanese tried to save face with a suicidal charge into torpedo range. While the Americans were using their torpedoes to finish off the crippled destroyers the Japanese tried to get close enough to take out a cruiser. In the end the Japanese managed to sink one light cruiser, and damage the other cruisers. Three American destroyers were sunk. The Japanese were completely wiped out. Congratulations to Charlie and Ceasar on their victory at sea.
