On Friday, Dec. 8 John Burke, Matt Fritz, and Phil Willows traveled to Cape May to run a demonstration game on the Mall. The location was Central Pharmacy on Washington Avenue. Bill Thawley, the owner, stocks a lot of model kits and books, which are of interest to hobbyists and wargamers. At his request we decided to run our D-Day game for anyone that stopped by. Bill provided refreshments, and kindly put up our recruiting posters. We were hoping to find a few new prospective members. The night went well. Bill was pleased with the number of customers that stopped by and we handed out many club business cards and copies of our magazine. Hopefully we’ll get a call or e-mail from someone interested in joining. We were busy all night long with customers playing the D-Day game. Some of the kids were having so much fun their parents had to literally drag them away from the table! Check out Bill’s ad for information about his store. If you stop by mention the club and you’ll get a discount. He is located on the Mall in downtown Cape May, includes free parking on an owned lot, and is open 9am to 6pm Mon through Friday, 10am to 6pm Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday till the end of the year, when Sunday’s hours are dropped. He stocks ship, plane, car, and tank models (plastic). He has figures in 1/72 and 54mm figures like the BMC playsets. He stocks 1/72 tank models by Revell and Rocco military vehicles. Paint, brushes, and plenty of interesting books for the hobbyist, including Osprey uniform guides. And also special orders.
