I was able to play test Tod Kershner's Warfare in the Age of Discovery rules. Tod is also the author of the popular Wargare in the Age of Reason rules. I have to say that in my opinion Tod has a great set of rules here. I recommend these rules for the Renaissance period up to the Thirty Years War. The best part about the rules is that by the third or fourth turn it's easy to run the charts without an umpire making every call. In the game I played the Swiss caught the French napping and gave them a good thrashing. Some of the French units were able to give a good account of themselves and inflict some punishment. Unfortunately for the French the French army morale was the first to break under pressure. This enabled the Swiss to claim victory. I am looking forward to running a game with these rules.
