General Heinz Guderian was Army Group Center's 2nd Panzer Group leader in the opening stages of Operation Barbarossa. An able soldier, Guderian was the main proponent of the armored Blitzkrieg tactics used by the German Army during World War II. After successfully leading the German tank forces towards Moscow, Guderian was relieved of his command by Adolf Hitler in December 1941.
