This was a crazy and confusing battle. Each player had a squad and an objective. Charlie, with the only American squad, was after the gold. His men were quickly caught in a cross fire and massacred. Caesar's French collaborators were out to assassinate a French Resistance leader being held in the bank. John's German squad, led by Iron Cross winner Sgt. Steiner, was on a mission to recon the town and capture an American for interrogation. Eric's squad, lad by "Das Grenadier," was after the gold. Kirby's SS squad was supposed to rescue an SS officer from the bank. At the center of it all was Major Berkhalter of the SS (run by Matt). Two loyal Hitler Youth bodyguards accompanied the Major, a fanatic and royal pain in the neck. They were ensconced in the bank vault with the gold, and a French Resistance prisoner. The first into the bank was Eric's squad. After throwing the Major off his guard Das Grenadier fired a panzerfaust into the vault. His treachery was foiled by the timely arrival of Kirby's squad, followed by John's men. A tense standoff ensued with the Major shouting orders and the players trying to negotiate a truce. Discussions ended with a halftrack of MPs supported by a tank enter the town to take possession of the gold. While the MPs careened around the bank like the Keystone Cops, blazing away with their SMGs, Das Grenadier blew the turret off the Sherman. Eric's squad took control of 6 gold bars and Kirby's squad took the other 4. Sgt. Steiner decided to save these treasures for the Fatherland but has killed. Major Berkhalter's attempt to kill the traitorous Grenadier was foiled when the SS troops sent to save him cooly blew his brains out. Aftermath: Sgt. Steiner was buried with full military honors. Charlie's squad was listed as AWOL. Das Grenadier and his men escaped the country with their gold. They were last reported to be in Argentina. Kirby's SS detachment was apprehended and brought to SS HQ for questioning. They all died in freak accidents involving piano wire. Caesar's collaborators were hung from lampposts after the liberation.
