Lieutenant Johan Von Burke reports: Regretfully due to a heavy assault by the Communist Barbarians using Armor and Infantry Forces in overwhelming numbers, we were forced to withdraw from the town of Smirnoff despite our heroic resistance to the Red Horde. The battle was going in our favor until the sub-human communist lackeys overran Hauptman Von Harkins's flank. Our gallant forces, despite the loss of the left flank, continued to inflict severe punishment on the Russian Forces. However, the situation was untenable and we were forced to extricate some of our Infantry. Our Panzer Forces had been destroyed by the Soviets as we fought to hold Smirnoff. We will be Avenged!!! Marshall C. Bennettolsky reports: October 10, 1943 - a day of rejoicing. Today the glorious forces of Comrade Marshall C. Bennetolsky's 5th Tank Guards Army liberated the village of Smirnoff from the Evil Fascist Nazi Horde. The total collapse of the Nazi left flank allowed the glorious forces of the Motherland to sweep into Smirnoff, killing the hated Nazis wherever they were found. The Nazis in Smirnoff fought to the last man. This was to no avail, as our glorious forces crushed them like a snake. The Glorious Warriors of the Motherland did enjoy Hauptman Von Harkins's Schnapps, while they repaired the distillery so the could enjoy good Russian Vodka. After the battle Hauptman Von Harkins could not be found. From the April 1999 Newsletter... Battle Report Correction In last months newsletter we reported on the battle of Smirnoff and speculated about the whereabouts of Hauptman Von Harkin. It seems that we were once again victims of the Communist propaganda machine. Von Harkins was recalled to Berlin where he was promoted to Obergruppenfuhrer. The Fuhrer himself awarded Von Harkins the Knights Cross with diamond for slaughtering Russians. Von Harkins told the editor of this newsletter that the battle report filed by a "Lieutenant Johan Von Burke" was a complete fabrication. The only Johan Von Burke in Von Harkins command is a corporal, not a lieutenant. The editor regrets his error. Those Communists are very tricky and not to be trusted. This grudge match will continue at the May game day.
