On Eternal Patrol

Adm. Ignatius "Pete" Galantin

by Harry Cooper

Adm. Ignatius "Pete" GALANTIN (4289-1995), wartime Skipper of USS HALIBUT, has recently departed on his `Eternal Patrol' after a tough battle with various health problems.

We met PETE and his wife at the submarine birthday party a few years ago at the SubBase Kings Bay. During dinner, the submarine officers engaged in an old Annapolis tradition -- they were throwing dinner rolls at each other! Not to be outdone, Mrs. Galantin was throwing entire loaves of bread!

They were a wonderful couple. `PETE' was a great guy and a real war hero. Godspeed Skipper, with fair winds and following seas.
