JIM GREGG (5721-1999) wrote this:
“I am the son of a WW II submariner –- he served on USS SUNFISH (SS 281). Dad was very disappointed that we had to turn back from the Sharkhunters ‘ R&R’ last December. Great work!!! We really enjoy Sharkhunters!!!”

Jimmy Remembers Gerd

JAMES KLINE (300-A/LIFE-1987) e-mailed the following: “The loss of Thäter really hit me. I will ALWAYS remember the day I met him and Hess. Respect is an overused word that I rarely use – but I RESPECT those two men. When I came to Germany, these men had never met me before. Thäter put his arm around my shoulder – both he and Hess, with the utmost sincerity in their voices, asked me about my health. I’ll always remember that moment with warmth in my heart and a tear in my eye. Good thing I joined Sharkhunters – so many memories!”

JIM HARRISON (6745-2003) recently e-mailed:
“I always look forward to my KTB’s as does my wife’s uncle Paul Reichert, who was a crewman on USS TAUTOG during WW II.”

MATT THIELEN (new Member) received his “Convoy in Sight” print and e-mailed: “The print arrived today and it looks great.”

RICHARD BAER (6855-2004) e-mailed this to us: “I am a brand new Member and after reading my first copy (KTB #177) I was amazed at all the very interesting information you have in this publication. I am just delighted with all the stories you have in the KTB. I am very glad to have joined the group and am looking forward to future KTBs.”

Our friend Thorsten Beine e-mailed this: “Keep doing the wonderful work remembering the German U-Bootwaffe!”

We sure will Thorsten – for a very long time!

Dr. MICHAEL SHMOOKLER (1217-A-1989) has been sending lots of books for our research library, and he writes: “Take care, and keep up the great work you are doing.”

US Navy submarine veteran BILL BEITEL (6098-2000) has been with us on a “Patrol” in Germany, and he writes: “I always enjoy reading the KTB Magazine.”

"Great Print." That’s what RICHARD SILMSER (6108-2000) wrote recently about his Print “D”. This is the fine art print the DRUMBEATER IS HOME, hand-signed by Captain REINHARD HARDEGEN (102-LIFE-1985), Vice Admiral HORST von SCHROETER (5430-1997) and Rudolf Hoffmann. The original was by MICHAEL WOOTEN (232-C-1987). HARDEGEN was decorated with the Knights Cross and Oak Leaf; von SCHROETER was decorated with the Knights Cross.

RICHARD BAER (6855-2004) wrote when he received his watch: “The watch is just beautiful. I know that I will get some comments on it in public. Thanks a million.”
