Fighter Plane and Pilot
Found after 60 Years

Fiji Discovery

by Harry Cooper

A hunter in the hills above Naivucini Village, Fiji stumbled across an American fighter plane shot down in World War II. The remains of the pilot were still in the cockpit and the guns were still loaded with live ammunition.

Not much is known about the plane or how it came to this fate, but police confirm that the pilot’s remains are still in the cockpit. They warn local residents to keep away from the plane because of the live ammunition – they want to remove these dangers.

Thanks to CDR. EDDIE DANIEL (4803-1996), stationed aboard USS KENNEDY, for this information.
