Autumn of the U-Boats

Book Review

by Geoffrey P. Jones

Hardback edition published by William Kimber, London in 1984 containing 224 pages, 51 photographs.

In his second effort at detailing U-Boat losses, Mr. Jones moves to the autumn of 1943 (late September to mid-November) which he describes as the twilight of U-Boat successes. Like the previous volume, the Allied side is given most of the attention but he begins to include more information about the U-Boat side of each encounter. For the first time, an actual German participant was contacted as part of the research. Boats given more detailed accounts include: U-340 and U-643.
