We will report the peacetime submarine disasters, one year at a time, in our KTB Magazine. In 1908, only one submarine was lost. 15 October 1908, the French submarine FRESNOL was sunk with no loss of life. Details are sketchy and there is no report of the tonnage of the boat, depth of the water, commissioning date or the number of survivors. The submarine was salvaged. Below is a running tally of submarines lost in peacetime, which will be updated monthly as we look at other submarine disasters.
