Okay, we’ve waited long enough – here is the scoop. If you will remember back in 1995 or 1996, an Argentinean newspaper had a story about a U-Boat found scuttled in a spot about where DON ANGEL ALCAZAR de VELASCO (158-1985) said there would be one – in a letter to this HQ in 1985…..and here it was, according to that newspaper. We immediately phoned the Argentine Navy attaché in Washington DC and were handed over to an Argentinean Navy admiral who kept telling us that this find was top secret. We assured him that there was nothing secret about a German Type VII-C U-Boat, which was technologically out of date even before the end of World War II. Didn’t matter – he would say nothing. Then, after about a week or maybe ten days, when we would call to this admiral, his response suddenly was “What U-Boat?” It was obvious that this officer was stonewalling so we went around him. One of our Members looked into this situation and he told us that it was not the U-Boat that the Argentinean Navy thought was top secret – but the mission it had been on that was top secret. After time, the contact was broken and according to the official line of the Argentine Navy, the matter had faded into the mists of time. Some months ago, we were contacted by a recently retired officer of the Argentinean Navy and he not only knew the story – he knew the particulars and specifics. We are also in contact with a researcher in Buenos Aires who also has done extensive work on this story. We are getting our ducks in a row and hopefully, by this winter (it is then summer in Argentina) we will send a small Sharkhunters group to Argentina to take a look for ourselves. Naturally, we will ask for a small number of Members to join us. Keep reading; when we have all the details lined up, we’ll make further announcements.
