Colonel BOB WICKE (6625-2002) was with us on our 2003 “Patrol” in North Germany with Berlin and Poland, and he wrote:
“I neglected to comment on a very important point of the tour – the cost. The cost was very minimal compared to the extent and exclusive subject matter we saw. I was astonished by the low cost!”
Karin and HARTMUT GÜNTHER (6228-2000) wrote their feelings over the passing of GERD THÄTER (194-+-1986):
“We are sad and unhappy that this great man is gone forever to the ‘Grand Army’. In our hearts, he will live forever. He will live forever with Sharkhunters and with our Friendship Circle. We will never forget him!”
Here is a note from Sgt. Major KEN ROUSE (1252-1989):
“Just wanted to verify that I fulfilled my promise to attend GERD’s memorial service as a representative of Sharkhunters. I had to go, not just as a delegate but also on a personal level to pay my last respects to a dear friend and true gentleman, and to his widow and family. Along with my own condolences, I passed yours and Sharkhunters. Hans-Georg Hess (125-LIFE-1985) and Admiral (a.D.) Claussen both gave eulogies. I am afraid I had a hard time keeping my emotions in check, and at times failed.”
WAYNE SLIFE (5675-1998) wrote:
“When you and I and our comrades are gone, only the work of Sharkhunters will be left to tell the tale in a sea of television’s instant history, masquerading as truth.”
From Dr. RENEE von WÖRDE (887-1988),
“I just checked the website and read about Gerd Thäter. It is terrible news. I know you are so sad. It just brings home the fact that these wonderful “living legends” will not be with us always and people should take the opportunity to go and meet them with Sharkhunters!”
From ELLYN PONTON (6627-A-2002),
“I am sad that he is gone, but glad that I was able to meet him in Germany with the Sharkhunters.”
PETE TUCCI (2759-LIFE-1993) lives out of the US. He wrote:
“Some time ago I sent up a distress flare in the direction of Sharkhunters. And in typical Sharkhunters fashion, the problem was solved! Thank you everyone at my favorite subscription, and keep up the great work!”
