Letters to the Editor

Our dear friend GÜNTHER HEINRICH (1945-1991), Skipper of U-960 (right), wrote to say thanks for our good wishes. He had spent more than half a year in the hospital with various serious problems. He is now recovering (thanks God!!) and we hope to see him again when our group is ‘on Patrol’ next year in Germany – but prayers certainly will not hurt – please keep “Heini” in your thoughts.

RUDOLF WAGNER (5461-2003) had been out for a while, but when he returned to Membership, he wrote: “Glad to be back!”

We’re glad to have you back, RUDY.

Captain OTTO von BÜLOW (305-LIFE-1987) was with us on our recent “Patrol in North Germany” and here’s what he wrote: “Thank you for this chance to assist Sharkhunters. I would like to stress how much I appreciate your monthly journal and your expert knowledge of submarine warfare!”

Captain von BÜLOW (Knights Cross with Oak Leaf), a very fine gentleman of 92 years, was with us on our “Patrol” as was his son, a retired Kapitän zur See of the Bundsmarine.

Captain ALFRED EICH (5941-LIFE-1999) was expected to join us during our “Patrol” in northern Germany but something came up at the last moment and it was not possible. He wrote: “Thanks for the cordial invitation to join the group in Germany and Austria. This is a very interesting program for certain. I am sorry but I will not be able to join you on this beautiful journey. I thank you for this friendly invitation and wish you all the best.”

CHAZ PITYK (1999-1991) has been with us on “Patrols” before, but he was not able to join us this time. Here is what he says: “I was really bummed that I couldn’t go. One guy at work was in the US Army over there and he is knowledgeable in our area of history, and I took some pictures to him. All he could say was stuff like “WOW!” and “Did you really meet these people?” Like I said before, there just ain’t no other group that can do what our Sharkhunters can orchestrate.”

Sorry CHAZ couldn’t be with us – especially, since he is an avid Harley rider and we spent some time in a huge Harley store in Berlin. They even opened early for us so our troops could spend some time (and money) in their shop.

As we have said before – save your vacation days and some money, and keep watching our website and our KTB Magazine. We ARE going again in 2004. Don’t be left out this time!
