Sea Lawyer to SJ Radar

Here are some more words and phrases in both German and English, to help you understand the terminology of the times.

Sea Lawyer Someone who generally argues against authority or thinks he knows everything about everything;

Sea State Indication of the surface conditions ranging from dead calm (Sea state 0) to full gale (Sea state 10)

SG Radar The ‘Sugar George’ was a more advanced U.S. Navy ship borne radar. It was better than the SC model and the first type of radar to use a single cathode ray tube functioning as a PPI (Position Plotting Indicator) scope on which objects detected could be displayed in relation to their relative positions in regard to the ship;

SJ Radar The ‘Sugar Jig’ was the submarine counterpart to the SG Radar;
