SC T his was the U.S. Navy’s designation for a Sub-Chaser; a small patrol boat for coastal waters.
SC Radar “Sugar Charlie” was the early U.S. Navy shipboard radar which used two cathode ray tubes for data. One showed range, the other the bearing.
Schlüssel M This was the famed ‘Enigma’ coding and decoding machine used by the Wehrmacht in their FT (radio telegram) messages.
Seekuh Nickname for the Type XIV U-tankers. It means Milk Cow. These big submarines carried 432 tons of additional diesel fuel to replenish Frontboots as well as a few torpedo reloads and other supplies. Their primary purpose was to refuel the Frontboots (combat boats).
SKL Short for Seekriegsleitung, which meant German Naval High Command.
