A couple years ago, JIM PENNINGTON (4746-LIFE-1996) was with us on one of our ‘Patrols in Germany’ and he met OTTO von BÜLOW (305-LIFE-1987), Skipper of U-404 and holder of the Knights Cross with Oak Leaf. JIM writes:
“At the Welcome Dinner, I had a great conversation with von Bülow and others at other times. I think these personal meetings were one of the best aspects of the trip. Seeing the sites were also significant, particularly the Ehrenmal. I’m looking forward to continued participation in Sharkhunters, possibly including future trips. You did a great job for us. Many thanks.”
When WALLACE DERICKSON (5661-1998) came aboard as a new Member some years ago, he wrote:
“Needless to say, as a new member I enjoy the KTB publication very much. The accounts you provide are excellent, for the most part but as a former college teacher of German, I couldn’t help but notice the German spelling errors.”
We have since recruited WALTER KERN (6345-LIFE-2001) to make sure our German spelling and grammar are correct, and we appreciate WALLACE helping us along in that direction.
ROBERT deMARS (1042-1989) has been aboard for quite a while, some 13 years to be exact, and he wrote:
“You certainly publish an exciting and informative historical magazine!”
ANDREW BABAJKO (3506-1994) rode several American submarines, including USS DOGFISH, USS SPIKEFISH and USS THREADFIN. Some time ago, he wrote:
“Keep up the good job; this publication is excellent and I am always looking forward to receiving it.”
ERHARD GLANDER (5129-LIFE-1997) also wrote:
“I enjoy being part of this group and have paid my LIFE Membership in full. Thank you very much.”
We at SHARKHUNTERS certainly do appreciate all the input from our Members, good or bad. It is only through your comments, questions and suggestions that our KTB Magazine and indeed, our family of SHARKHUNTERS continues to grow as it has over the past two decades.
Right, we said two decades. SHARKHUNTERS will soon celebrate our 20th anniversary. Watch for it!
Some time ago, SAM ARNOLD (3316-1993) wrote:
“I much enjoy my Membership and our fun publication.”
A short while ago, MARK SHURNA (5811-1999) wrote:
“Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know what a great publication KTB is. Wish I had known about it years ago.”
Long time Member C. J. CHRIST (47-1995) writes:
“I still enjoy Sharkhunters and the KTB Magazine. Keep up the good work.”
From NILS JERGENSEN (4747-1996):
“I thoroughly enjoy your publication and am proud to call myself a member of your organization. The KTBs are fantastic pieces of history and have been providing me with interesting information and valuable insight into the U-Boat campaign of 1939-1945. I would like to know if there is anything more that I can do to aid Sharkhunters. I would certainly like to become more involved and would appreciate any opportunity to help. Sharkhunters has become a great resource for me in my research. I look forward to my continued involvement with you.”
Some time ago, CRAIG STANLEY (5212-1997) wrote from “down under” when he first came aboard:
“Thank you Sharkhunters. I received my first issue of KTB last week and was suitable impressed. It contains a wealth of interesting stories and info, and am eagerly awaiting next months KTB. Bravo Zulu!”
When EDWARD HSIAO (5779-1999) came aboard, he wrote:
“I thank you for welcoming me aboard as a new Member. I’m looking forward to each issue of the KTB Magazine. The more stories and information about the U-Boats and their crews – the better!”
And when MAC McNEILL (5216-1997) came aboard, he wrote:
“I would like to thank you for my first issue of the KTB Magazine. I can see that my membership fee was truly well spent. I would like to congratulate you on a job well done.”
