A ‘thank you’ document from U-189 to a town that befriended them. Within eight months of signing this paper, these men were dead along with the entire crew of U-189.

U-189 was attached to the 4th U-Bootflotille upon commissioning, then to the 2nd U-Bootflotille at Lorient as a frontboot (combat boat). U-189 made only one patrol, and she was lost on this first patrol while operating against a convoy in the North Atlantic near Iceland.

U-189 attacked no ships during her short life.
