These are our Members who came aboard in 1987 but have already begun their ‘Eternal Patrol’. We wish you fair winds and following seas always, and thanks for being dedicated Members.

FRANK MULARONI (5527-+-1998) joined the US Navy on 8 December 1939. He served in the Pacific aboard the cruiser USS NASHVILLE from 10 February 1940 through 1 November 1942 when he volunteered for submarine service.

He rode USS TARPON (SS 175) from 30 November 1943 until 28 April 1945. He was awarded the following medals:

  • The European Theater
  • American Defense with bronze “A”
  • Good Conduct Medal
  • Presidential Unit Citation
  • Asiatic Pacific Theater
  • Silver Star
  • Silver Star (he earned two)
  • American Theater
  • Victory ribbon

He also belonged to a very rare outfit - the FSBoI, or the “Forgotten Submarine Bastards of Ireland”. These guys were stationed in Ireland after the war, to look after the surrendered German U-boats and FRANK eventually crewed on a Type XXI back to the USA.

Through his son Ray, FRANK has donated several artifacts to our SHARKHUNTERS including a photo of his boat, USS TARPON, his Liberty Card and his membership card in the FSBoI.

We wish you calm seas and following seas always. Sail on in peace FRANK. You’ve earned it.
