Do you remember a few years ago, when that North Korean sub got stuck on a reef just offshore South Korea? Here it is. The folks in the little village near this spot, bought the submarine and put it here for all to see. They named the place ‘Unification Park’ and according to our Far East Representative YOYA KAWAMURA (1739-LIFE-1991), more than 120,000 people have visited this sub and the other exhibits there which include small arms, food, drinks, medical supplies and other assorted items. It is strongly believed that this submarine and others like it were used to gather intelligence from South Korea and to place agents ashore. And now it sits on the very shore where it was to place agents ashore and later retrieve them - but she is now a memorial to a failed mission. Another such monument is “Whiskey on the Rocks” in Sweden where the Soviet WHISKEY Class ran on the rocks there, causing great embarrassment. The boat was later sold to a Swedish scrap yard along with other boats, and someone there realized which boat it was. It is now a park. There is an irony here - somewhere.
