Chinese Navy: Sink an
American Aircraft Carrier

Bulletin Board

By Harry Cooper

That is the main theme of today’s Chinese Navy, according to reports of well-placed sources watching the war maneuvers of this navy. American officials are still reluctant to acknowledge that the Chinese are preparing for conflict with the United States.

The war games in August featured the test firing of their newest anti-ship cruise missiles which experts believe are specifically designed to attack and sink the huge American aircraft carriers that would definitely be part of any task group sent to protect Taiwan from a Chinese invasion.

These war games also showcased the Su-87 and J-8 aircraft, SOVREMENNY Class destroyers and the KILO Class submarines. The report goes on to indicate that Russia is working on new long range cruise missiles, which they will eventually export to China.

The new missile is the X-22M cruise missile, which Russian military officials claim is the only missile of its type in the world. It is a supersonic anti-ship missile with a conventional warhead and active radar guidance system, able to destroy ships as well as land targets. It has a range of about 250 miles and, according to its designers, cannot be countered by current anti-missile systems.

The X-22M is also known as the Kh-22M and NATO calls it the AS-4 KITCHEN. American intelligence officials say that Moscow will likely sell these missiles to China to replace the old SSN-22 anti-ship missiles carried on their two SOVREMENNY Class destroyers. It’s going to get interesting.

EDITOR NOTE - as a former ‘Special’ (thermonuclear) Weapons guy, I can tell you it is no problem to replace conventional warheads with nuclear ones.
