Knights Cross Medals

Of the 145 Knights Cross medals awarded in World War II to U-bootfahrer, these include:

20th Oberleutnant Reinhard Suhren when he was Watch Officer on U-48. He went on to command U-boats and eventually became Chief of the northern Flotillas. This award was made on 3 November 1940.

21st Stabsobersteuermann Heinrich Petersen, Obersteuermann on U-99. The award was made 5 November 1940.

22nd Korvettenkapitan Viktor Schutze on 26 January 1941.

23rd Kapitanleutnant Karl-Heinz Moehle, Skipper of U-20 and U-123. The award was made on 26 February 1941.

24th Kapitanleutnant LEHMANN-WILLENBROCK (120­+-1985), skipper of U-96, the famed boat of the `Smiling Sawfish'. The award was made 26 February 1941.
