USS FLASHER was the American tonnage record holder in WW II? In six war patrols between January 1944 and February 1945 under Commander's Whitaker and Grider she sank 21 Japanese ships.

I-27 was Japan's most successful submarine in WW II? Under four commanders she sunk 14 ships for 77,620 gross tons before her loss in February 1944 under CDR Fukummura. the top Soviet submarine Skipper was Captain First Rank I. A. Kolyshkin? He sank 17 ships in WW lI, totaling I 15,000 gross tons.

The British battleship HMV WARSPITE was attacked no less than 5 times at Narvik, Norway at the German invasion in April 1940? In these most favorable conditions, each time the torpedoes missed the battleship or failed to explode due to faulty torpedoes.

EDITOR NOTE - The USN was not the first with bad torpedoes.
